The CBI’s six-year-long investigation concluded that there were no violations in the loan repayment process, which had been secured by the 61% shareholding of the NDTV promoters as collateral. After reviewing the findings, the complainant indicated that he would not file any protest petition against the CBI’s closure report.
The investigation also revealed that the reduced interest rate on the loan repayment was not an isolated incident but a common practice, and the repayment was in line with normal business transactions, as confirmed by a forensic audit. The case was initially filed after allegations that the ICICI Bank had sanctioned a Rs 375 crore loan to NDTV in 2008, which later raised concerns regarding its repayment terms.
