Munda demands dismissal of Akhil Giri from Mamata cabinet

New Delhi: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda on Saturday launched a scathing attack at the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) over alleged controversial remarks by West Bengal Minister Akhil Giri and demanded his dismissal from the state Cabinet.
“The indecent remarks of TMC leader Akhil Giri on the President is an insult to the tribal community and the country,” Munda told reporters here.
Stating that Giri’s comment violated democratic values, the Minister said that Mamata Banerjee should give an explanation in this regard and apologize to the country.
“Mamata Banerjee should clarify at whose behest Giri made this comment. She should immediately sack him,” Munda said.
Meanwhile, the TMC condemned the statement of its MLA and said, “We have the utmost respect for Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Our party strongly condemns the unfortunate remarks made by MLA Akhil Giri.”
In the era of women’s empowerment, such misogyny is unacceptable, it added. (UNI)
