MP to have another Tribal Museum in Shahdol
Bhopal, Dec 23 (UNI) Tribal existence being a vital aspect of Madhya Pradesh, a museum focussing on adivasi life will be established in Shahdol Division on the lines of the one in Chhindwara; official sources said on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while chairing a Tribal Advisory Council meeting via videoconferencing at Mantralaya, highlighted the challenging fact that ethnological groups are far behind in the development race.
“Implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act in Himachal Pradesh and other states shall be studied and decisions taken. More hostels will be established for adivasi pupils. A benefit of Rs 218 crore has been provided to Scheduled Tribes under the Dietary Grant Scheme. Action shall be initiated against those who intend to marry tribal women solely for possessing their land. Purchase of 18 minor forest produce items has commenced on support price. A health survey of the adivasi population will be conducted for control of sickle cell anaemia and health cards issued,” the senior politician averred.
As many as 86 Van Dhan kendras have been set up. There are 2,645 ashrams; sports complexes and other institutions with approximately 1.5 students on the rolls. The Tribal Welfare Department is managing 22,592 primary schools; 6,800 secondary ones; 731 high schools and 860 higher secondary institutions.
