MP: ex-minister Sulochana Rawat, son quit Cong to join BJP

Bhopal, Oct 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh’s former minister Sulochana Rawat and her son Vishal left the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here late Saturday.
The duo accepted BJP membership at the Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP state President VD Sharma and other leaders. The lady and her son were symbolically draped with a saffron dupatta.

Mrs Rawat is considered an influential tribal leader of Alirajpur District where Jobat assembly constituency is witnessing a by-election necessitated by the demise of Ms Kalawati Bhuriya who won in 2018 on a Congress ticket. Mrs Rawat represented Jobat earlier.

Mrs Rawat and Mr Vishal said in a statement that they are influenced by the development work being accomplished under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Chouhan.

“I want to link tribal youth with the BJP,” Mr Vishal said.
