1601 – After eight month’s siege, Akbar entered Asirgarh, one of the strongest forts in India. (Asirgarh Fort is situated in the Satpura Range about 20 kilometres north of the city of Burhanpur, in Madhya Pradesh).
1871 – U.S. patent was issued to Andrew S Hallidie for an “endless wire rope way” subsequently used for the first cable car to be put into service in the world for public transport.
1928 – The first U.S. patent for a fully automatic photographic film developing machine was issued to its inventor, Anatol M. Josepho. It was an apparatus for developing film strips.
1941 – Subhashchandra Bose went underground at Calcutta. (He appeared in Moscow after some days).
1946 – United Nations Security Council holds its 1st meeting.
1981 – Mizoram became a full State.
1989 – Colonel JK Bajaj became the first Indian to reach the North Pole.
1991 – Operation Desert Storm begins – US led allies vs Iraq.
2012 – India and China agree to build a functional plan to address border issue.
2013 – In efforts to turn its back on nuclear power, Japan announces plans to build the world’s largest offshore wind farm in the Fukushima Prefecture, near the site of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
2019 – self-styled spiritual leader Ram Rahim Singh and two aides sentenced to life in prison for murdering journalist who exposed sexual abuse at the sect.
