Mohammed Shami Now Pay Monthly to His Wife and Daughter..
Calcutta High Court orders the cricketer to provide ₹4 lakh per month
Kolkata: Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has been directed by the Calcutta High Court to pay a monthly maintenance of ₹4 lakh to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and their daughter. The court also ruled that the order would be applicable retroactively, covering the past seven years.

According to the judgment, ₹50,000 of the total amount is meant for the maintenance of their daughter, while the remaining ₹3.5 lakh is for Hasin Jahan’s personal support. The court stated that the decision was made after carefully reviewing Shami’s income, assets, and the standard of living both parties were accustomed to during their marriage. This verdict comes after a prolonged legal battle that began in 2018 when Hasin Jahan accused Shami of domestic violence, infidelity, and mental harassment. The controversy quickly became a high-profile case, drawing nationwide attention. Since then, both have remained embroiled in a bitter public and legal dispute.
The court emphasized that irrespective of the ongoing marital discord, Shami has a financial and moral responsibility towards the upbringing of his child and the dignity of his former spouse. It also ordered that arrears of the maintenance amount from the past seven years must be cleared in a time-bound manner.
Shami’s legal team is expected to consider an appeal, but there has been no official response from the cricketer so far. Meanwhile, Hasin Jahan expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating it was a step toward justice and long-overdue financial support. Legal experts suggest that the retroactive clause in the ruling is significant, as it could amount to a substantial lump-sum payment, apart from the monthly obligations moving forward.
The case continues to spark debate on public figures, privacy, and spousal rights in high-profile relationships. While Shami remains an active part of India’s cricketing circuit, the court’s decision is likely to have both personal and financial implications. As the matter progresses, further legal proceedings may determine the timeline and method of recovery of past dues.
