NEW DELHI:  Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi get along well politically, despite the fact that the BJD and the BJP disagree on numerous issues in the state. According to reports, Modi called the Odisha chief minister on Tuesday morning amid ongoing uncertainty regarding the Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) support for the Centre against the Opposition’s no-confidence motion. The BJP MPs’ grins returned as a result. According to a BJD source, the BJD has agreed to back the BJP-led NDA government in opposition to the no-trust motion, which could be introduced on August 8 in the Lok Sabha.

This newspaper’s top BJP source confirmed the Modi-Naveen correspondence. “It completely altered the situation. In order to assist the government against the no-confidence motion and the Bill that would replace the Delhi ordinance, Patnaik has discussed with his party colleagues the possibility of imposing a three-line whip.”Above party politics, both of these leaders have a great rapport with one another. They are both politicians who are interested in growth. According to a senior BJD official, the party is now opposed to the vote of no-confidence and supports the administration with regard to the Delhi ordinance.

The Modi-Patnaik chat, according to sources, lasted a short while. Even if these two parties in Odisha disagree with one another on a few subjects, the BJD received support. The good news for the BJP came as the Lok Sabha was rocked by disruptions over the Manipur issue for the eighth day in a row on Wednesday. Wednesday’s proceedings were postponed by Speaker Om Birla in protest of both the opposition and treasury benches’ behaviour.
