Chandigarh : In a major relief for students who missed their exams at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, the university has announced a special opportunity for such candidates to reappear. Students enrolled in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses after 2014 can now apply to take their pending exams.
The online application process will begin on July 16, and the exams will be conducted offline. This decision has come after repeated requests and representations made by students who had left their courses incomplete due to personal, academic, or health reasons.
According to PU officials, this is a one-time chance to help former students earn their degrees and close their academic gaps. Candidates who missed semester exams between 2014 and 2023, and whose courses are still pending due to lack of final examinations, can submit their online forms through the university’s examination portal.
Once registered, students will be issued offline exam schedules, and the tests are likely to be held in August or September 2025. The decision has created a buzz among students who had dropped out or failed to appear due to unforeseen circumstances.
The university has clarified that this facility is not open to students who have already completed their degrees or whose admission year is prior to 2014. Additionally, only those programs where the university still has exam records and syllabi will be covered under this special drive.
A senior PU official stated that this initiative is aimed at reducing academic loss and providing a pathway for students to complete their education. “Many students were left behind due to personal reasons or the pandemic. This step is for those who want to finish what they started,” the official said.
The move has been widely welcomed by both students and faculty, as it aligns with the university’s mission of inclusive and flexible education.
