New Delhi, Jan 11: Ministry of Ayush & Yoga, Govt of India has called upon citizens to do Surya Namaskar on January 12 in their homes, as it helps to improve health and immunity. The appeal for mass gatherings to celebrate the occasion publicly has been withdrawn in some states, due to upsurge in Covid-19 cases throughout the country. It was expected to be celebrated in educational institutes and public offices across in the country to mark Swami Vivekanand Birth Anniversary.
The mass Surya Namaskar program, which used to be a regular feature marking Swami Vivekananda’s January 12 birth anniversary in Madhya Pradesh’s schools and public places, stands cancelled owing to the upsurge in novel coronavirus cases.
“I urge pupils, teachers and their relatives to perform the same at their respective dwellings while adhering to COVID-19 prevention-related protocol. Photographs and videos may be uploaded. I shall do likewise,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote in social media tonight.
