Maruti Suzuki India post a robust sales turnover

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Maruti Suzuki India Limited posted a robust recovery in total month-to-month sales of its vehicles at 138,335 units in October 2021, on the back of proactive measures taken to counter the impact of shortage of electronic components on its production. The October sales is an increase of 60.15% from 86,380 units sold in September 2021 when the company had reported 46.16 per cent decline in sales.
Maruti Suzuki sold 112,788 units in the domestic market while its sales to other OEMs was at 4,225 units and its highest ever monthly exports in October was at 21,322 units, the country’s largest car manufacturer said on Monday. “While the shortage of electronic components continued to affect the production of vehicles during the month, the company took all possible measures to minimise the impact,” the company said, which is why it sold more vehicles than the sales volume expected at the start of the month.
In the A category of Mini segment, the company saw purchases of 21,831 units of Alto, S-Presso, as compared to the 28,462 units sold in October 2020. In April-October of FY 22 it sold 124,153 units of Alto and S-Presso as against 105,128 units in the same period of FY21. In the compact segment, it sold 48,690 units of Baleno, Celerio, Dzire Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR as compared to the 95,067 units in October 2020. In April-October of FY 22, it sold 346,936 units of these cars as compared to 325,723 units in the same period of FY 21. In the Mid-Size segment comprising Ciaz, the company sold 1,069 units in October, compared to 1,422 units in October 2020.
In the B category of Utility Vehicles, the sales of Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, was 27,081 units as compared to 25,396 in October 2020, while in the April to October period of FY22, it sold 162,160 units as against 102,702 cars in the same period of FY 21. The C segment of vans saw sales of 10,320 units of Eeco as compared to 13,309 units in October 2020.
In the Light Commercial Vehicles segment with Super Carry, the company sold 3,797 units as against 3,169 units in October 2020. In the April to October 2021 period, the total sales of LCVs was 16,513 as against 11,010 in the April to October period of FY 21.
