New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki is set to export its upcoming electric SUV, the e-Vitara, to more than 100 countries from its Gujarat plant, marking a significant milestone for India’s auto industry and the company’s global strategy.

The announcement came during the inauguration of Maruti Suzuki’s new EV production facility in Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The plant has a total annual capacity of 750,000 vehicles across three production lines. The newly commissioned third line can manufacture both electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.

Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India, shared the company’s vision in an interview:
“It is a proud moment today. Our Gujarat plant has production lines capable of manufacturing EVs and ICE cars. We will export the e-Vitara to over 100 countries, with Europe and Japan as key markets. Barring the Arctic and Antarctic, our presence will span every continent.”

The company also plans to make the e-Vitara available in Latin America, South America, Africa, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Built on a dedicated EV platform, the vehicle comes with advanced technology features, a 500 km range, and high performance specifications.

The third production line has a capacity of 250,000 units annually. Maruti Suzuki has already invested around ₹21,000 crore in the Gujarat facility and plans to invest an additional ₹3,100 crore to add a fourth line. The plant is also expected to generate approximately 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In addition, Suzuki’s battery subsidiary, TDSG Lithium Ion Battery Gujarat Private Limited, is progressing in localizing battery production to support India’s push for self-reliance in electric mobility. Bharti confirmed that Indian customers will also get access to the e-Vitara within the current financial year.
