Manish Gupta murder case; Two more policemen arrested

Lucknow ,Oct 12 (UNI) Two more accused were arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the death case of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta, police said on Tuesday.

On Sunday, the SIT arrested the local inspector and police outpost in-charge, who were absconding after being named in the case. So far, a total of four policemen have been arrested. The SIT has already announced a reward of Rs one lakh each for information on all absconding cops.
Superintendent of Police (City) in Gorakhpur, Sonam Kumar said, “Accused inspector Rahul Dubey and constable Prashant have been arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Manish Gupta. SIT had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh.”
On Sunday, suspended Inspector JN Singh and sub-inspector Akshay Mishra were arrested in the case.
Manish Gupta (36) had died at a Gorakhpur hotel during a police raid. He was staying along with his two friends in the hotel. Police had earlier denied the charge and said he received a head injury after he fell on the ground as he was drunk. Later, a case of murder was registered against six policemen.
Meanwhile, the wife of the businessman, Meenakshi Gupta, has demanded capital punishment for the accused. “The accused cops deserve to be hanged because they killed my husband for no reason,” she said.
