New Delhi/Indore : A lethal mix of sewage and drinking water has shaken the country and triggered a public health crisis in India’s cleanest city Indore. The water contamination tragedy has exposed serious gaps beneath the surface, especially in sewerage safety, pipeline oversight, and official coordination.
The tragedy is not just about contaminated water, it is about a government that chose to cover up rather than confront the truth as investigations reveal shocking lapses in civic infrastructure .

On the spot inspection a leakage was detected at a point in the main water supply in Bhagirathpura, over which a toilet was found constructed, without a mandatory safety tank- a violation that allowed sewage to seep into the potable water network,  so possibly due to this the water got contaminated.  This has exposed a cascade of administrative failures and civic lapses.

At present more  than 100 patients have been admitted across Indore hospitals suffering from vomiting diarrhea and severe dehydration with 13 people reported dead and 26 people in intensive care.

The city is celebrated for door-to-door waste collection, strict segregation, and anti-littering drives. But the present deadly incident raises troubling questions about whether visible cleanliness has overshadowed basic drinking water safety.

Or has lethargy  seeped into the administrative machinery post national  honors ?
