New Delhi, Dec 14: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, saying he has not yet removed the Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra from his post due to “anti- farmer mindset”.

Priyanka’s remarks came after the Special Investing team (SIT) which is probing the case has termed the incident as “pre-planned conspiracy”.
Priyank Gandhi has also demanded an inquiry against the MoS Ajay Mishra for his alleged role in the entire incident. “@narendramodi ji farmers do not want to listen to your empty words. Being the Prime Minister, fulfilling your constitutional and moral responsibility, get the investigation started immediately into the role of the Minister of State for Home in the conspiracy of Lakhimpur farmer massacre and sack him immediately,” she tweeted.

“Due to the court’s rebuke and because of satyagraha, now the police are also saying that the son of the Minister of State for Home had conspired and crushed the farmers. There should be an inquiry on what was the role of the Minister of State for Home in this conspiracy?,” she said in a tweet. “But @narendramodi ji because of the anti-farmer mentality, you have not even removed him from the post,” she added.

The Congress General Secretary also said even though the SIT has come to a conclusion that the incident was pre-planned then why the Prime Minister and Home Minister is trying to save Ajay Mishra.

On October 3, eight people including four farmers were killed during the farmers’ protest in Lakhimpur Kheri after being mowed down by the SUV belonging to the Union Minister. One journalist was also killed in the violence.

In a veiled attack on the Prime Minister, former party president Rahul Gandhi also demanded the inquiry into the matter and said despite knowing the fact and not sacking the minister is an “injustice”.

You have been doing politics of religion; today now do the politics of righteousness. Since you have visited the state of Uttar Pradesh, do meet the families of farmers who have died during the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Not sacking your minister is an injustice, adharma! # Lakhimpur,” he tweeted.
