Kisan Sabha demands dismissal of Karnal SDM
New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) All India Kisan Sabha on Sunday demanded dismissal of Karnal sub-divisional magistrate Aayush Sinha, as they mourned the death of farmer Sushil Kajal, who got injured in Saturday’s lathicharge in Karnal, and died later due to a heart attack.
A statement from AIKS, which is a part of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) also gave a call for nationwide protests.
“The AIKS deeply mourns the death of Martyr Sushil Kajal, a 55 year old farmer of Village Raipur Jatan, District Karnal, who received severe blows in the atrocious police lathi charge yesterday. He died of a heart attack last night,” the statement said.
Kajal was cremated at 11 am this morning. AIKS said no post mortem was performed.
He was a regular participant in this farmers’ struggle right from the beginning.
“Sushil Kajal has become a victim of the bloodthirsty BJP-JJP state government of Haryana, which has waged a war on its own people by lodging false police cases on nearly 40,000 farmers, including two cases of sedition, in the last nine months of this historic farmers’ struggle,” the statement said.
The AIKS demanded immediate dismissal of the SDM Aayush Sinha, and the institution of a case under IPC 302 (murder) against him.
“It was he who gave orders to the police force deployed in Karnal to “break the heads” of the protestors. The video of him giving these orders has already gone viral,” the statement said.
AIKS also demanded a judicial probe in the incident.
The statement said the “disgraceful order” was a reminder of the orders of the hated British General Dyer and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre
On Sunday, on the call of SKM, protests were held across Haryana, Punjab and other states to denounce the police atrocities on farmers at Karnal yesterday.
A lathi charge was carried out on farmers who were gathering to go for a protest against Karnal visit of
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar. Several farmers were seriously injured, prompting protests by farmers and criticism by the opposition.
