Khatauli (UP) assembly by-election on Dec 5

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday announced schedule for the bye-elections to Khatauli Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh.
According to a communique issued by the poll panel, the bye-poll will take place on December 5 and the counting of votes will be held on December 8.
The EC said notification will be issued on November 10 and the last date of filing nomination is November 17.
The scrutiny of the nomination will take place on November 18 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 21, the poll panel said.
The EC said it has decided to use EVMs and VVPATs in the bye-elections in all the polling stations.
Adequate numbers of EVMs and VVPATs have been made available and all steps have been taken to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of these machines, the poll panel said.
The seat has fallen vacant following the disqualification of BJP MLA Vikram Singh. (UNI)
