Khasa Army Camp Blast: Two Suspects Detained, Seen Roaming Near Camp Before Explosion
Amritsar: Police have detained two suspects in connection with the IED blast that took place late Tuesday night outside the Khasa Army Camp near the India-Pakistan border. However, formal questioning of the duo could not be conducted till Thursday evening.
According to sources, the police remained occupied throughout the day due to VVIP movement. Family members of the suspects have reportedly taken responsibility for presenting them again before the authorities on Friday morning for further investigation.
Initial investigations revealed that both youths were seen roaming around the Khasa Army Camp area between 10:30 pm and 10:45 pm on the night of the incident. Around 15 minutes later, at nearly 11 pm, the explosion occurred outside the military camp.
Police teams are now working to gather additional clues linked to the suspects. With the assistance of village panchayat members and local residents, investigators are verifying the identities and movements of the accused.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police, central agencies, and forensic teams are jointly investigating both the Jalandhar bomb blast case and the explosion outside the Khasa Army Camp in Amritsar.
Investigation agencies have so far examined footage from nearly 720 CCTV cameras, while around 120 individuals have been brought under the scope of questioning and inquiry.
In the Jalandhar blast case, the police investigation has now reportedly extended to Phagwara as officials continue to trace possible links and suspects.
