Kharge invites Opp. leaders over dinner for talk of greater unity
NEW DELHI: Amid growing convergence, opposition parties pushed for greater unity, warning that the crisis wrought by Modi government is beyond survival politics or political competition among them.
At a dinner meeting hosted by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, leaders of 19 parties, including NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi brainstormed on the situation in the backdrop of Adani scandal and Rahul’s disqualification from Lok Sabha,
Sources said the leaders pushed for sustained unity, arguing that time for one-upmanship or local rivalries among them was gone. They also pushed for finalizing a strategy on how to continue the protests inside and outside Parliament.
Congress sources said the meeting came at the initiative of other parties, and included DMK, NCP, JDU, BRS, Left, AAP, TMC, RJD, SP, JMM.
Congress frontal outfits are likely to kick off fresh protests Tuesday onwards. They will hold a ‘mashal march’ from Chandni Chowk to Town Hall on Tuesday. (a syndicated feed)
