Kailash Kher Once Suicidal, Now Charges Lakhs
Faced assault allegations, earned ₹50 per song once—now takes ₹15–20 lakh per show……
Renowned Indian singer Kailash Kher, who turned 52 recently, opened up about the darkest phase of his life, revealing that there was a time when he contemplated suicide due to personal struggles and public allegations. The soulful singer, known for hits like “Teri Deewani” and “Saiyaan”, shared that the journey from extreme poverty to stardom was filled with battles—both internal and external.
Kher recalled how, in his early days, he would sing for as little as ₹50 per song just to survive. There were days when he didn’t know where his next meal would come from. The pressure of not making it in the music industry, coupled with isolation and loneliness in Mumbai, drove him to the brink.
Adding to his emotional burden, Kher was also accused of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement, which further shattered him emotionally. He confessed that the backlash and the social media trial that followed made him feel broken and vulnerable, leading him to question his existence. “I almost gave up,” he admitted.
However, with time, he gathered himself and focused on his music, spirituality, and inner healing. Today, Kailash Kher is not just one of India’s most celebrated Sufi and folk singers but also commands fees of ₹15–20 lakh per concert. His live performances continue to be packed with energy and devotion, and he remains a favorite among spiritual and fusion music lovers.
The singer now speaks openly about mental health, fame, and forgiveness. He says his music is his redemption and that he wants his story to inspire those who feel lost or defeated. “If I could rise from nothing, anyone can,” he shared, calling his journey a testimony of survival and faith.
