Jofra Archer ruled out of West Indies tour
London, Dec 21: Fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England’s tour of West Indies in March, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Tuesday.
The board in a statement stated that the fast bowler “underwent a second operation on his injured right elbow on Saturday 11 December in London.”
“The procedure addressed the long-standing stress fracture of his right elbow.
“A return to cricket will be determined in time, but Jofra will not be available for any of England’s remaining Winter series,” ECB added.
Archer has not played international cricket since March due to a stress fracture in the elbow. In May, he underwent surgery to address his long-standing elbow issues after he attempted comeback for Sussex.
He commenced an intensive rehabilitation period working with the ECB and Sussex medical teams.
ECB also confirmed that Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow in August. The scans revealed that the fast bowler suffered a recurrence of a stress fracture on his right elbow.
Archer was subsequently ruled out of the Test series against India, T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
