Jeevan Dharma mobile health centers taking care of people in HP
Hamirpur, Jun 6 (UNI) Jeevan Dharma that was envisaged by Himachal Pradesh Government to provide a complete range of health care services for populations living in remote, inaccessible, un-served and underserved areas mainly with the aim of taking healthcare service delivery to the doorsteps of these populations has done a lot to help the suffering mankind.
In fact, it has become a true lifeline express of the people, claims a spokesman of the state government.
He said that the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur had flagged off 10 Medical Mobile Units as Jeevan Dharma mobile health and wellness center on November 18, 2020.
Presently, MMU’s cater for the health services in District Chamba-1 Vehicle, Kangra-2 Vehicles, Kullu-1 Vehicle, Mandi-2 Vehicle, Shimla-2 Vehicles, Solan-1 Vehicle, and Sirmaur-1 Vehicle. The team of Jeevan Dharma is manned by 1 Medical Officer (MBBS), 1 Pharmacist, 1 Lab technician, 1 Driver, and 1 Helper.
He said that Jeevan Dharma provided services of medical consultations, screening the population populations for Hypertension and Diabetes and Cancers (breast cancer, cervical cancer, and oral cancer) and diagnostic services like blood glucose, pregnancy testing, urine microscopy, albumin and sugar, Haemoglobin, and other Rapid diagnostic kits.
He claims that all the requisite drugs and supplies as prescribed for a PHC in the State EDL Drugs are available in the Jeevan Dharma.
In addition, the team undertakes follow-up checks during the monthly visits, including providing patients requiring drugs with a monthly supply for their chronic diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Epilepsy, etc.
The spokesperson further added that the Jeevan Dharma also provides routine Antenatal checkups besides outpatient services in the area of operation. Till 21st March, 18064 patients were checked and 9833 tests were done.
In the COVID pandemic, these mobile medical units are playing a vital role in the State. These vehicles have now been deployed under Covid-19 for RAT testing as well since the second week of May 21. Till 30-05-2021, in total 5267 COVID tests have been performed by Jeevan Dharma in 7 different districts of the state.
The spokesperson added that this has been one of the most successful interventions to provide services to hard to reach a population in the state.
