Jammu Kashmiri Pandit Sabha condemns Shopian killing
Jammu: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Jammu on Saturday condemned the killing of Puran Krishan Bhat in his home in Chowdhary Gund Shopian here at a meeting under the leadership of its President K K Khosa.
The members expressed anguish over yet another targeted killing of minorities which has continued unabated for over more than one year in which about thirty innocents have been killed by terrorists till now.
“This has sent shock waves within the minorities especially the Kashmiri Pandits who are being targeted for just being Hindus. The game plan of the terrorists and their sympathizers to kill one and scare the rest seems to be succeeding and yet the UT Govt. continues to make tall claims that it has eliminated terrorism from Kashmir,” said the members.
They said that on the contrary, the government is brazenly taking coercive measures to force PM package employees to rejoin their duties including biometric attendance and withholding of their salary.
“Almost two years have seen gruesome killings taking place and yet there has been no change in the administrative setup responsible for governance of the UT,” said Khosa adding that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah must take stock of the situation and take up strong measures to control the situation which has totally gone out of hand.
“The UT government needs to be revamped urgently and there is need to appoint some more advisors hailing from Jammu and Kashmir who have goodwill amongst the people of J&K,” they added.
There is a strong disconnect between the public and the UT government which is highly dangerous for this border state, they said.
“Measures taken so far to bring about peace and normalcy in the valley after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A have clearly not been up to the mark and much more needs to be done to create a congenial environment for the minority community to feel safe otherwise there could be yet another exodus,” the Sabha members said.
