New Delhi, March 28: A SpiceJet B737-800 aircraft on Monday hit a pole at Delhi airport during push back damaging the aileron, a hinged part in the trailing edge of an aircraft wing. The flight was scheduled to operate from Delhi to Jammu and the incident took place before take-off. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated investigation into the incident. No one was hurt during the occurrence. Both the operating crew, the AME (aircraft maintenance engineer), wing walkers and push back operator have been off rostered pending investigation. Breath analyzer (BA) tests of both the pilots, AME, Wing Walkers and Push back operator have been done and all have tested negative, an aviation industry executive said. “On March 28, 2022, SpiceJet flight SG 160 was scheduled to operate between Delhi and Jammu. During push back, the right-wing trailing edge came in close contact with a pole, causing damage to aileron. A replacement aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight,” said a SpiceJet spokesperson when contacted. (UNI)
