IU Fencing: GNDU Amritsar win Epee, Foil individual gold

Jammu: The Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on Tuesday won individual women and men gold medals in the events of Epee and Foil on the opening day of the All India Inter-University Fencing Championship being hosted by the University of Jammu.
Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha declared the competition open earlier in the day.
As per results, in Epee Individual Women category, Sheetal Dalal of GNDU, Amritsar won gold by defeating Taniska of GNDU Amritsar, who won silver.
Nazia of Osmania University and Jaskeerat of Punjab University, Chandigarh won bronze medals.
Meanwhile in Foil Individual Men event, Tufan of GNDU Amritsar won gold medal by defeating Harshit of GNDU Amritsar for Silver while first bronze was won by Tushar of Bam University, Aurangabad and second Bronze was won by Sachin Patani of Hem Chandra Acharya University.
More than 1000 fencers from over 100 universities are taking part in a five-day long championship concluding on December 24. LG Sinha said, ‘This unique and extraordinary Championship is truly inspiring. It will enable and encourage more such sporting events and lead to identification of future talents and sustainable sports movement in the J&K UT’
