Is PM asking Bommai to drop probe into Bitcoin scam: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Nov 12 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Friday launched a tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for asking Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to ignore the charges regarding the alleged Bitcoin scam in the state.
In a series of tweets, the former chief minister asked the state and central governments to investigate the scam impartially and reveal the names of those involved, he said.
“Instead of asking @CMofKarnataka to investigate & prove the innocence, how is it correct for
@PMOIndia to tell him to ignore the allegations? Can the Prime Minister unilaterally decide what he wants?” Siddaramaiah said.
Bommai, who was PM Modi in New Delhi yesterday, said there was no discussion about the allegations, but guessed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah seemed to have “more information” on the scam.
Siddaramaiah questioned the Prime Minister if he was suggesting Bommai to drop the investigation at this stage of investigation when central and state investigating agencies are probing the scam.
“Central & State investigating agencies are investigating the #BitCoin scam. @BSBommai is the present CM & was also home minister under BSY. By asking CM to ignore at this stage of investigation, is @PMOIndia asking him to drop the investigation?” he said.
Siddaramaiah said the people do not know if Bommai is involved in the Bitcoin scam or not, but the Congress party is asking for a proper investigation and to punish the guilty. “Why is @narendramodi asking CM to ignore?,” he added.
The former chief minister also alleged that the Karnataka BJP leaders were preventing the Congress from speaking by claiming the involvement of Congress leaders in the scam.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said the Congress is indulging in hit and scoot politics. He asked Congress leaders to release the papers or names of the guilty involved in the scam.
Jnanendra said the accused in the bitcoin case, Srikrishna, was arrested during the Congress regime in connection with a brawl in a hotel. “Congress leaders knew who all were associated with him. Let Congress leaders, without mixing politics in the bitcoin issue, provide evidence they have,” he said in a statement.
