IPL’22 kickstarts today with 2 new franchises
Mumbai, March 26: The new avatar of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set for a gala beginning today with a match between Chennai’s CSK and Kolkata’s KKR at Mumbai. Apart from the already existing eight teams, two new franchises — Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans — will begin their IPL journey and also battle it out for the glittering IPL’22 trophy. Though some of the teams have retained their core group of players, as well as their captains, some have decided to go with a fresh mindset this season. Three players will make their captaincy debut in this season’s IPL, which starts today.
The two India openers, will have opportunity to make their mark in World’s most popular limited over competition, which attracts all top players of the world. Mayank Agarwal will captain Punjab Kings and KL Rahul will shift from Punjab to head new franchisee Lucknow Super Giants. In all 10 teams will vie for the IPL.22 Trophy.
Ravindra Jadeja, India’s most prolific all-rounder will take Chennai Super King’s baton from former India captain MS Dhoni.
