International Kullu Dussehra to be held between Oct. 5 and 11
Shimla: The International fame Kullu Dussehra will be held from 5th to 11th October 2022. This was announced during a meeting today which was chaired by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
The Chief Minister presided over the meeting of the International Kullu Dussehra Festival committee here in which various sorts of discussions regarding the festival were taken.
The Chief Minister said that fairs and festivals represent our rich culture and heritage. The State Government is committed to the conservation of these fairs and festivals and has been taking various steps in this direction, said the Chief Minister.
He said that Kullu Dussehra was not only famous in Himachal Pradesh and India but it was a festival of international repute for its unique traditions and rituals. He said that the Kullu Dussehra begins at a time when Dussehra festivities conclude in the rest of the country. It is a symbol of our religious beliefs and cultural values, added the Chief Minister.
Jai Ram Thakur directed to complete all the preparations for the Dussehra festival in a time-bound manner. He also showed the glorious journey of Himachal Pradesh through exhibitions during the festival, to mark the 75 years of the formation of the State. He directed the department of Information and Public Relations to prepare documentaries based on the theme “Himachal then and now” and ensure their screening during the festival. These documentaries would highlight the progress made by the state in various sectors including Public Works, Jal Shakti, Health, Education, Tourism, Energy, Industries, Agriculture and Horticulture, etc., he added. The Chief Minister also directed us to ensure proper security arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, and other necessary facilities during the festival.
Education, Language, Art, and Culture Minister Govind Singh Thakur said that the District Level Committee, District Kardar Sangh, and other organizations of the district Kullu had already started the preparations for the Dussehra festival.
The income & expenditure of the Dussehra festival committee of the previous year and other important issues were also discussed in the meeting. It was decided that all the deities of the district would be invited to the Dussehra festival. The cultural troupes of various states of the country would also be invited and all the religious rituals will be conducted in the traditional manner during the festival. (UNI)
