New Delhi: 11th “Infrastructure & Logistics Fueling Indian Economic Development” Conference was held in New Delhi on Thursday. The umbrella conference was organised by Asia Aviation Associates-infraLOG.           

In his opening remarks, Manish Kumar, Managing Editor infraLOG  underlined the need for synergizing India’s infrastructure strategy with global trends and targets fixed by PM Modi to traverse path to reach $5 trillion economy by 2026-27. Welcomig the veterans from Aviation, Power, Shipping and other infra sector, he recalled the past 10-year journey of infraLOG and his team. Attendees were Lt. Gen. D Kalra PVSM/AVSM, Subhash Goyal, President IATO, Satnam Sodhi, Amrit Air Express, Tarun Kalra, MSC on the Dias and many more veterans among the audience. . 

Contexting the Theme, Dinesh Kumar, of ‘Asia Aviation Associates’, organiser and Managing Director said that industry has all the wherewithal to pursue the economic vision of the government. Industry and private sector must converge; show courage; be inclusive and achieve the socioeconomic goals. There is no doubt that India can achieve a developed country by 2047 provided all sectors sustain a robust growth.

The focus of the four business sessions was on measures to traverse from $3.5 tn to $35 tn economy under the vision of our PM. “infraLOG” Industry Excellence Awards were also conferred on the eminent industry professionals for their extraordinary contribution in furthering and synergising India’s economic performance.”

The participants represented a mini India where diverse sectoral representatives converged from all over India. The domain experts from oil, power, manufacturing, aviation, airlines, hospitality, tourism, technology, freighter companies, NHLML, REC, AAI and airport operators, Shipping, Roads and highways, Indian Railways, Pharma sector, research and advocacy professionals, express and e-commerce companies, supply chain professionals, freight forwarding, customs brokers, India Post etc. were present. 

The experts discussed the essentials of sustainable Indian economic development and the path India may follow with private sector and industry playing dominant role based on schemes like PLI,  PM Gati Shakti and schemes to catalyse the MSMEs which contribute 30% to GDP and 45% to exports and employ the major chunk of working population. 

The China Plus One policy of the western world is an opportunity that needs to be taken advantage by our technology and manufacturing sectors to “Make in India” to develop India the hub of manufacturing.

As India emerges as the fastest growing economies while most advanced ones are reeling under inflationary or 

recessionary pressures, the Government of India under the Prime Minister Modi has rightly pushed the envelope on infrastructure since 2014. It has invested heavily in infrastructure for the past over 9 years aiming to 100 and pushing core sectoral growth based on PPP and opening of FDI to leverage and catalyse private sector participation. Government is ensuring seamless logistics-supply chain with measures such as country-wide connectivity road, rail, airports, shipping and wat

erways network across India. PM Gati Shakti, ULIP, Rail electrification, DFCs, Vande Bharat, RCS UDAN inter alia with ‘China Plus One’ approach to develop India as the Hub for Manufacturing, distribution, EXIM trade and commerce.

Since, infrastructure and logistics move the trade, commerce and industry, its results percolate to spread socio-economic dividends to the citizens of India. With that aim government is pursuing a developed India by 2047.

The participants belong to all sectors of economy both national players and from international organisations and stakeholders, industry, government and academia viz, airlines, ports, airports, power & oil sector, air cargo operators, Roads & Highways, express companies, Indian Railways, Pharma, manufacturing, Technology, Cybersecurity, AAI, AAICLAS, Shipping, Customs, Hospitality and Tourism, ors. Country’s top performing Airport Operator at Delhi.

The Commissioner of Customs, ICD-Patparganj informed efficiency brought about in adopting technology to ease of doing international travel, while Anil Khaitan, past president PHD chamber and an industrialist, enunciated how India can clinch No.1 position from current No. 3 by following the pharma logistics best practices. Alok Tripathi, Director Freight Marketing Railway Board informed the innovations being done by Indian Railways to increase the share of point to point parcel service while Gopal Maheshwari of Underscore and Suneet Gupta of Kale logistics discussed the importance of AI driven Community Systems and cybersecurity in logistics.
