Infosys president Mohit Joshi quits, joins Tech Mahindra as CEO
BENGALURU: Salil Parekh‘s success as Infosys CEO is creating challenges for him in the top management. Exactly five months after the company’s president Ravi Kumar quit to lead Cognizant, the only other president, Mohit Joshi has quit to succeed Tech Mahindra’s long-time MD & CEO, CP Gurnani, Both Kumar and Joshi had been with Infosys for about 20 years, reports Shilpa Phadnis,
Analysts tracking Infosys say Kumar, 50, and Mohit Joshi, 47, were keen on the CEO position at Infosys. But with Parekh, 57, transforming Infosys once again into the industry bellwether, and having received a five-year extension to his term last year, and with CFO Nilanjan Roy seen as Parekh’s closest confidante, neither Kumar nor Joshi probably saw any further progress for themselves at the company.
Their exits have left Parekh with a huge vacuum at the top, especially with HR head Krishna Shankar also retiring later this month. Joshi has been most recently responsible for financial services & healthcare/life sciences businesses. Sources told TOI that Infosys made a lot of effort to convince Joshi to stay.
