IndiGo Cancels 6 Flights, Air India 8
Amritsar-bound Flight Returns to Delhi; Airports Open Post Ceasefire….
New Delhi : In a significant disruption to air travel, IndiGo Airlines has canceled six flights, while Air India has canceled eight, causing major inconvenience to passengers. Among the flights affected, one Amritsar-bound flight from Delhi was forced to return to the capital due to operational challenges linked to the ongoing situation. The cancellations come a day after 32 airports across the country resumed operations following a 43-hour-long ceasefire.
According to aviation authorities, the cancelations were primarily a result of the temporary airspace restrictions put in place due to the ceasefire. These restrictions had impacted the normal functioning of several airports, including some in the northern region. While the ceasefire was lifted, some operational hurdles remained, leading to the cancellations. Passengers who were scheduled to fly from Delhi to cities like Amritsar, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and others were particularly affected by these disruptions.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) reported that 32 airports reopened on Sunday evening after being closed for over two days due to the security measures surrounding the ceasefire. These airports are now operating at full capacity, but airlines are still working to adjust their schedules to accommodate the backlog of flights and the temporary changes to air traffic routes.
While the affected airlines, IndiGo and Air India, have expressed regret over the cancellations, they assured passengers that they are working diligently to rebook flights and minimize delays. The airlines also confirmed that they are providing full refunds to passengers whose flights were canceled.
This disruption has raised concerns among travelers who have faced long waits and uncertainty regarding their flight schedules. Many passengers took to social media platforms to express their frustration and to seek clarification on rebooking options and compensation.
Despite the temporary setbacks, aviation authorities are hopeful that the situation will return to normal soon as they continue to monitor the air traffic and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed. Passengers are urged to stay updated on flight statuses through their respective airlines or by checking the airport’s live updates.
