Miami : In a shocking incident aboard a domestic U.S. flight, a 21-year-old man of Indian origin, Ishan Sharma, was arrested for assaulting a fellow passenger mid-air. The incident took place on a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami, creating panic among passengers and cabin crew.

According to reports, Sharma allegedly got into a heated argument with a co-passenger which quickly escalated into physical violence. Eyewitnesses claim that Sharma grabbed the other passenger by the neck and attempted to choke him during the flight. Flight attendants intervened immediately to separate the two and prevent further escalation.

The moment the flight landed in Miami, airport security and local police were already on standby. Sharma was taken into custody at the airport gate. A video of the altercation has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread outrage and calls for stricter enforcement of in-flight behavior policies. Authorities have charged Ishan Sharma with assault and endangering the safety of passengers aboard an aircraft, which is considered a serious federal offense in the United States. If convicted, he could face jail time and a possible ban from flying on major U.S. airlines.

Frontier Airlines issued a brief statement confirming the incident and stated that the safety of their passengers is their top priority. “We do not tolerate disruptive or violent behavior on board,” the airline noted, adding that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies in the investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also been informed about the incident and may open a separate probe. In recent years, incidents of unruly passengers have increased in the U.S., especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to stronger enforcement of no-tolerance policies by airlines.

Sharma, who is reportedly a student, has not made any public statement, and it is unclear whether he has retained legal counsel. The motive behind the altercation is still under investigation. This incident has once again raised concerns about in-flight safety and the rising cases of air rage. Authorities are urging travelers to maintain decorum and follow airline protocols at all times.
