India suffer 0-8 loss to USA in the maiden match in World Cup U-17 women’s champs
Indian Women face Morocco and Brazil in next outings
Bhubaneswar: Host India on debut in the Women World Cup Football championship under-17 on Tuesday suffered 0-8 loss to title aspirants USA in the opening play in the Group A at the Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday.
Virtually in one-way traffic the visiting side was the dominance
figure and hurled their first goal in the 9th minute when
frontliner Melina Rebimbas volleyed past helpless goalkeeper Anjali Munda.
Then the goal galore began as Charlotte Ruth Kohler buttressed the
tally for USA in the 15th-minute, followed by Onyeka Paloma Gamero
adding another in the 23rd-minute. She was followed by Melina
Remimbas (31′), her second and Gisele Thompson (39′), Ella Emiri
(51′),
Taylor Suarez (59′) and Indian origin Mia Bhuta (62′) sent a left
volley to beat Munda over her head.
India will face Morocco on Friday and the USA will play against mighty Brazil. (UNI)
