India Set to Counter Pakistan’s UNSC Agenda
Pakistan plans to play victim card in July as UNSC president; India ready to foil the move…..
New Delhi: As Pakistan prepares to assume the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in July, India is gearing up to counter its expected attempt to play the “victim card” on the international stage. Sources in diplomatic circles say Pakistan is likely to raise issues related to Kashmir and terrorism, aiming to portray itself as a victim of regional instability.
However, India is not only aware of these intentions but is also preparing a firm response that could expose Pakistan’s own record on terrorism and human rights violations. According to senior officials, India plans to use strong factual rebuttals and international support to neutralize any propaganda.
“Pakistan’s tactic is nothing new. Every time it gets a global platform, it tries to bring up Kashmir and blame others for its internal failures. This time too, India is ready to respond decisively,” said a government source familiar with the developments.
India’s diplomatic teams in New York and Geneva are closely monitoring Pakistan’s moves and preparing comprehensive dossiers that highlight Islamabad’s continued support to terror outfits, especially in cross-border attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. These dossiers are expected to be shared with key UNSC members and global allies.
Officials also noted that the recent increase in ceasefire violations and terror activities along the Line of Control (LoC) could be part of Pakistan’s strategy to build a narrative ahead of its UNSC role.
Meanwhile, India is focusing on strengthening its alliances with key countries within the UNSC. Analysts believe New Delhi will push for discussions on global terrorism and the need to hold state sponsors accountable — indirectly cornering Pakistan without directly naming it.
In recent years, India has successfully built strong support for its counter-terrorism narrative at the UN. With growing global concern over Pakistan’s failure to act against designated terror groups on its soil, Islamabad’s attempts to divert attention are likely to face resistance.
Pakistan’s presidency of the UNSC is rotational and will last for the month of July. India’s proactive strategy indicates that while Islamabad may attempt symbolic victories, it may not gain much ground in practical terms.
