India makes tiny diplomatic moves in Ukraine-Russia conflict
Kiev: Indian ambassador in Ukraine Harish Kumar Jain met Ukrainian Security Service Secretary (NSA) Oleksiy Danilov in Kiev in a move to follow up the effort for a thaw in Ukraine-Russia conflict, after telephonic discussions between Prime Minister Modi and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy were held two days back. International diplomatic circles are expecting India to play a proactive role in halting the conflict using close relations between Russia and India.
India has been practicing an independent policy on the conflict from the beginning of Russian offensive eight months ago.
“The path of diplomacy and dialogue should be the only viable option for addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and no solution can be reached by shedding blood, India has said, as it reiterated its deep concern at the worsening situation in the East European country,” reiterated Indian Foreign office after the telephonic talk on Oct. 05.
“We believe that no solution can be arrived at by shedding blood and at the cost of innocent lives. We have emphasized right from the beginning of the conflict that the path of diplomacy and dialogue should be the only viable option,” had been Indias stand in the United Nations forum.
PM Modi had conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin during SCO Summit earlier in September. Indian PM told President Putin, “…this is not the time for War, a solution should be found through dialogue and diplomacy.”
