India, Australia debate education, skill development collaboration

NEW DELHI: On Thursday, India and Australia explored ways to strengthen and deepen their current partnerships in the fields of education and skill development.

The meetings took place on Thursday in New Delhi between Australian counterpart Brendan O’Connor and Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan.

Pradhan mentioned a number of industries that the two countries might thoroughly examine, including mining, water management, renewable energy, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and robots.

In order to prepare young people for the upcoming employment positions, Pradhan suggested that the two nations look into ways to replicate such procedures in India.

He continued, “This is the perfect time for the engagement between India and Australia, which is already at a historic high.

Pradhan asked for the execution of the “Mutual Recognition of Qualification” agreement that the two nations inked earlier this year in order to ease two-way student and professional mobility between the two nations.

O’Connor was also invited by Pradhan, who had previously visited Australia in August of last year, to the 7th meeting of the Australia-India Education and Skills Council, which would be held in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar in September.

According to O’Connor, his nation places a high premium on facilitating student mobility, and Australia is attempting to streamline its visa application procedure.
