India are the World T-20 Champs again, 3rd time !

Ahmedabad: Indian team romped home third time, winning the  ICC  T-20 World Cup  2026   at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad  tonight,  beating the  famous  cricket Warriers  Down Under, New Zealand by 96 runs,  riding on the steller performances by  openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, who put up 98 run opening partnership.  Sanju, the highest run scorer (321) in the tournament with 3  half centuries and winner of  Man of the Series title today, and Abhishek, who scored 52  thru’ just 21 balls  in the crucial match today and having taken 2 wickets, after having  a lean period in the previous 3 outings. Sanju Samson also put up a 105 run partnership with Ishan Krishna for 3rd wicket while  captain Yadav  went down for a Golden Duck in the final.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav, elated with the performance of his team,  emphasised the aggressive  strategy,  by the team openers in the victory,  Sanju Samson, Abhishek,  and the  star bowler of Indian team Jasprit Bumra who scalped 4  NZ  wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs, also crowned as Player  of the Match,  and   Varun Chakraborty, the crucial spin bowler of the tournament and Axer Patel took 3 wickets in the final.  India had scored a  confident 255 for 5 when NZ sent hosts to bat after winning  the Toss today. Hardik Pandya alsoo  scored  fast runs in the last overs and had 2 wickets.

The celebrities watching the Final were:  the  Home Minister of India,  Amit Shah, the   most successful Captain of India  Mohinder Singh Dhoni and  just-retired India  Captain Rohit Sharma, whose team had  lost the Final against Australia in 2023, ICC  chief  Jay Shah  and other World Cricket  veterans and officials.
