Independent India’s First Voter SS Negi is no more

Kinnaur/HP: The first voter of India, after India got freedom from the English rule Shyam Saran Negi has left for his seat in heaven.
106-year-old resident of Kalpa town in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh had voted last time on Nov. 02, earlier this week.
As he was keeping frail health, his vote was polled this time at his residence, when Dy. Commissioner Abid Hussain personally carried the ballot box to his home.
Negi expressed his pleasure to have the privilege of voting for the 34th time early this week, on Wednesday. He praised the election commission for helping him vote from his home.
Negi voted in the polling booth in local school first time in 1951 when independent India’s Constitution was enforced and fall Indian citizen got right to franchise.
