BJP seeks CM’s resignation over “nude protest” against false caste certificates
The BJP wanted a high-powered committee to investigate fake certificate positions
RAIPUR: The BJP in the Chhattisgarh assembly sought the resignation of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday after a group of nude men protested in Raipur, calling the act disgraceful.
BJP MLAs caused a five-minute adjournment due to their outrage.
After protesting in the well, opposition legislators were briefly suspended.
On Tuesday, a group of unclothed men protested in Raipur against government employees who used bogus caste certificates.
Police arrested 29 protesters marching towards the state legislative session.
Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel and many opposition members called the nude protest during Zero Hour, when members can discuss important public issues. The state has been shamed nationally and internationally.
BJP’s Ajay Chandrakar, Shivratan Sharma, Brijmohan Agrawal, and BSP’s Indu Banjare and Keshav Chandra highlighted the matter.
The BJP said the demonstrators had been demanding action for a long time, but the state government ignored them, forcing them to demonstrate without clothes.
They alleged the state administration detained demonstrators fighting for their rights instead of taking action against caste certificate holders, demanding dialogue by issuing an adjournment motion notice.
