IAF plane with 35 evacuees from Kabul lands in Hindon
11 Nepali citizens also rescued
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) An Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster carrying 35 evacuees from Kabul, including 24 Indian and 11 Nepali nationals, landed in the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad on Thursday.
Earlier, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had tweeted that the evacuees are on their way to India.
“Op Devi Shakti in action! “@IAF_MCC flight with 24 Indian and 11 Nepalese evacuees from Kabul is on its way to Delhi,” he had tweeted with the hashtag #DeviShakti.
There has been a scramble to evacuate Indian nationals after the Taliban took over Afghanistan on August 15.
India has withdrawn all its diplomatic staff from its embassy in Kabul and the other consulates in Afghanistan as a precautionary measure.
