HP Police lodge FIR on the complaint of HP Govt Officer for defaming him

Shimla, Jul 21(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Police lodged an FIR on Wednesday on the complaint of a Himachal Pradesh government officer for an alleged letter being circulated on behalf of a Pharma association against him alleging wild allegations were leveled on him and his family members.
FIR(143/21) is register at Police station Sadar here on Tuesday under section 505(2) of IPC creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will, u/s 505(2) of IPC for intentionally insulting the complaint thereby
gives provocation to any person, u/s 500 (defame other shall be punishable.
A police press release issued on late Tuesday said that complaint was lodged by Additional Director Department of Environment, Science, and Technology Paryavaran Bhavan Near US club Shimla Mr Parveen Gupta alleging that a forged, fabricated, letter has been circulated on behalf of the Baddi, Barotiwala Nalagarh Pharm and Drug Association.
The complaint further said that certain derogatory, false, baseless and wild allegations have been leveled against him and his family.
The press release claimed that letter was not issued on behalf of the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Pharma and Drug Association as denied by them. Alleged letter has been issued by some vested interest persons, tarnishing him and his family image. The case has been investigated by the SHO Sadar Mr Sandeep Choudhary now.
It is worthwhile to mention that a similar letter has been issued on the same analogy recently regarding the officer and his family also levelling similar wild allegations. The alleged letter was reportedly addressed to Prime Minister Office also leveled similar allegations on the government top functionary pointing to lawlessness in the state Pollution Control Board and transfer of an IAS officer recently on behest of complaint. No denial has been issued by the state Government over such wild allegations which are likely to be probed with Registration of FIR.
This is the third anonymous letter cum complaint being figured in the public domain which may also impact the reputation of Jai Ram Thakur Government as member of his cabinet and party leader from Solan have been also dragged into controversy now the matter is under investigation with state cyber cell indicates that some party functionary of Government may have been involved in the move.
It is too early to speculate that any concrete findings would come out of police investigations but the defamation case likely to draw the public’s attention keeping the gravity of wild allegations being made public in the anonymous letter. This development not only have political ramifications moreover decline in the moral and public probity is seriously being challenged with the help of such letters.
Now the onus is on the state police on how efficiently it would find out with the truth and exposed the real culprits.
