HP: Hamirpur, NIT students get excellent placement and internships

Hamirpur (HP), Dec 30: The reforms made under the New Education Policy (NEP) of the central government has led to the excellent placement and industrial internship for the students of the NIT (National Institute of Technology), Hamirpur, it was reported on Thursday.

Prof Lalit Awasthy, the Director of the institute claimed that over the past one and half years, NIT Hamirpur has 

initiated many academic and research reforms which includes adding capacity building in online teaching-learning, realignment of curriculum, implementation of New Education Policy-2020, allowing students for six (6) months training in industries and developing new research facilities at the institute.

All these reforms and stress on cutting edge research has started paying dividends in terms of enhanced research output of the institute, very good training offers from industries for students and excellent placements in reputed international & national multi-national companies (MNCs).

He said that during the current academic year, despite the ongoing pandemic, the placement process in NIT Hamirpur is going on in full swing for the batch of 2021-22. There has been a remarkable improvement in the placement indicators, especially, the packages offered by various organizations, with the highest international package recorded as 1.51 Crore.

Overall, 5 students of Computers Science and Engineering Programmes have received a package of more than 1 Crore in reputed organizations including Bloomberg (USA), Amazon (Berlin), Amazon (UK) etc, till this date, he further added.

He said that the overall placement percentage of Undergraduate (UG) Programmes has already reached nearly 65 per cent in the first      5 months of the current placement session. In all, a total number of 404 students of different UG/Dual Degree programmes have already been placed and more than 75 students of the institute have achieved package above 16 LPA (Lacks per annum), with 15 students bagging offers above 30 LPA.

Around 95 companies have conducted their recruitment drive through online mode to date, and around 30 companies are waiting in the pipeline to complete their placement process in the next 2 months, which is recorded as per the statistics of past years of NIT Hamirpur.

The Director said that the average package has increased from 7.4 Lakh per annum to 10.3 Lakh per annum rupees which is around a 30 per cent increase from the previous year. Further, about 100 students have bagged more than one offer in various organizations. He added that reputed organizations like Math Works, Texas Instruments, Siemens Healthineers, Amazon, Mediatek, Hitachi, Schneider Electric, NatWest, Avalara, PayTM, Samsung, Increff, Reliance, BYJU’S, L&T etc have already conducted placement drives for NIT Hamirpur students this year.

A number of initiatives by the institute’s administration including opportunities for online internships, flexible duration of internships, training webinars etc have helped the students in securing Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) and it has resulted in the improvement of placement index as well as the offered packages.

Moreover, more than 50 students of the pre-final year (2023 Batch) have secured internships with a monthly stipend between 30 thousand to 1.0 Lacs per month in organizations like Wellsfargo, Salesforce, Standard Chartered, Oracle, GAP, Accenture, Texas Instruments etc.

He said that in the Post Graduates (PG) programmes of the institute more than 50 students have already been placed. Around 75 per cent of students of PG programmes offered by Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering have already secured placement or internship in reputed organizations like Intel, Qualcomm, and Samsung etc.

During the pandemic period, the trend of recruitment has shifted from Core Engineering Industries to IT/Software Industries and the majority of the companies are recruiting the students for profiles like Software Developer, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Front End/Back End Developers, Graduate Engineer Trainee etc.

Advocate Susheel Jamwal was on Wednesday elected president of the Dehra Bar Association following polls.
The election for the post of President of Dehra Bar Association was held under the chairmanship of senior member of Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh Arvind Dhiman.
Arvind Dhiman told UNI that on the basis of votes, Sushil Jamwal was given the command of President while Rajneesh Bhatti was unanimously elected as Vice President. He said that Bhavneesh Parashar was elected as Secretary. He said that Ishaan Uppal was elected as joint-secretary, Pankaj Kumar as auditor and Raman Kumar as librarian.
