Himachal: Students turnup in good numbers as classes for 8-12th Resume

Shimla, Oct 11(UNI) Schools in Himachal Pradesh reopened on Monday with students of middle, high and senior secondary schools turned up in good numbers.
Director Higher Education of Himachal Pradesh Amarjeet Singh said that out of total 373761 students in 8th to Ten plus two as many as 221747 were attended their classes, which makes 59.33 pc of the total school students.
8th classes started after a gap of one years and seven month and recorded turn up of 48.95 pc as 2, 8536 students were present out of total 62175.
Ninth class recorded footfall of 60.81 pc out of total 71000 around 42832 were present.
While 67.24 per cent, 55.48 per cent and 65.72 per cent attendance was recorded in 10th,11th, and 12th classes, respectively.
COVID-appropriate is being followed by the students, according to the official.
After a long break of more than one and half years, students and pupils meeting in-person in the state on Monday, however, students under 8th standard continue their online studies due to the coronavirus pandemic, he said.
He said that during the first and second wave, all schools didn’t continue offline classes but with declining positivity rates and Vaccination of about 80 to 90 percent population, online classes above 8th standard started in offline or physical classrooms.
Earlier on September 27, the department had reopened for students of Classes 9 to 12 in the state.
The order said that any person violating these measures and not following COVID appropriate behavior
will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provision of Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Sec. 188 of the IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable.
