Himachal Board: Girls outshine boys in Plus Two exam
Vani Gautam of SVPM Ghumarvin topped with 98.8 percent marks
Dharamshala: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBoSE) declared the results for class XII exams on Saturday.
The results were announced by Board Chairman Suresh Kumar Soni. A total of 93.91 per cent students were declared successful out of 87,871 students, who took the examination conducted by the Board in 2022. The top three ranks have been secured by girls, Soni said.
Two top positions in the merit have also been grabbed by girls. Vani Gautam of SVPM Government Model Girls School Ghumarvin (Bilaspur) topped the list by securing 494 out of total 500 marks (98.8 per cent).
Soni said that Angel Sharma from Chamba and Vanshika Chaudhary of Solan scored 490 marks (98 per cent) and bagged second position. He said that Sheetal Verma of Shimla and Tanvi Verma of Solan got 489 marks out of 500 (97.8 per cent) and secured third rank.
Soni said that in 2021, a total of 92.77 per cent students had passed the HP Board Class 12 exams. This was a no-examination year due to Covid-19.
This year, when HPBoSE divided the board examinations into two parts and held offline examinations, there has been a slight increase in the pass percentage at 93.91 per cent, he added.
Soni said out of total 20 students in merit in Art stream, 19 girls are from government school, while one student is from a private school.
In science stream, out of 53 students figuring in the merit list, 39 were girls and 14 were boys. The Chairman of Board of School Education said that among these meritorious students, 39 are from private schools and 14 from government schools.
In commerce stream also, out of 19 positions in merit, 17 were girls and two were boys. Twelve were from government schools and seven from private schools.
The girl students of MCMDAV College, Kangra have made a mark in the examination results. Shaheen Chaudhary secured VI position with 487 marks, while Shaina Sharma secured ninth position with 484 marks out of 500.
Principal of the college, Baljit Singh Patial blessed the girl students and wished them all the best for a bright future. (UNI)
