Himachal Assembly: Discussion on No-Confidence Motion on Thursday
No threat to BJP govt in HP: CM
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar accepted the Opposition Congress party’s No-Confidence Motion against the government of Jai Ram Thakur which was moved in the House by 22 members of party and one of CPI(M), alleging that state government of having failed on all fronts.
After heating exchanging between members of opposition and treasury benches including Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in the house on Wednesday, the speaker said he accepted the notice of the Congress and other members. He said he would allow the members to participate in discussion on Motion of no-Confidence, all the business schedule for Thursday would remain suspended.
He said the house would assemble at 11 am tomorrow and discussion on the motion would be held till 3 pm after which Chief Minister would give reply on the no-confidence motion.
Speaker said he would urge both sides to give name of Speakers to him so that he could allow him to speak in the house. Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and other members of Congress welcomed the decision and demanded that all the 23 members be given time to speak on the motion.
Congress members Asha Kumari, Ram Lal Thakur and Harshvardhan Chauhan also sought the speaker to give more time to them so that all the 23 movers of motion and BJP members would participate in the discussion.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said his government is not running away from the motion and it is ready to discuss the motion he, however, said speakers should not be pressured by members to decide how he should allow to run the discussion in the house.
He said Opposition virtually made the house a fish market and they are trying to bulldoze the agenda of the house by creating disruption frequently on every issue.
Earlier, the speaker adjourned the house for 15 minutes. As the house assembled again and speaker said he was ready to hear the opposition members who had submitted motion of no confidence which should have sufficient number in the house. The speaker also conducted the head counts in the house to support the motion and all the 23 members were present in the house. (UNI)
