Heavy Rain Alert in 13 Rajasthan Districts

Rajasthan is once again bracing for heavy rainfall as the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for 13 districts in the state. The monsoon, which remained active throughout July, has intensified further, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. As a result, schools in five districts have been ordered to remain shut to ensure the safety of students.

July brought widespread showers to most parts of the state, disrupting daily life and causing flood-like situations in many low-lying areas. Roads were submerged, and transport services were hit, particularly in rural regions. The consistent downpour over the past weeks has left many towns and villages waterlogged, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and infrastructure damage.

The new rain alert has heightened concerns for residents who have already been dealing with overflowing drains, damaged roads, and power outages. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has identified 13 districts likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. Among these, districts like Udaipur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, and Dungarpur are expected to experience particularly intense downpours.

As a preventive step, district administrations in these high-risk areas have announced the closure of schools for the next few days. This move is aimed at minimizing travel risks for children and staff, many of whom travel from remote villages that are already facing connectivity issues due to flooded roads and landslides.

Local authorities are also urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors during the peak hours of rainfall. Emergency services have been kept on standby, and flood control rooms have been activated in vulnerable zones to monitor the situation round the clock. Officials are also ensuring that drainage systems are cleared to prevent waterlogging in urban centers.

While the rains have brought relief from the intense summer heat and improved groundwater levels, they have also posed challenges for daily wage earners, farmers, and small businesses. Many farmers are worried about crop damage due to excessive moisture, especially those growing seasonal vegetables and grains.

Despite the hardships, the rains are a boon for Rajasthan’s water reservoirs and agricultural lands, which heavily depend on monsoon activity. The government is balancing between welcoming the much-needed rainfall and managing its adverse effects on infrastructure and public life.

People are being advised to follow weather updates closely and cooperate with the guidelines issued by local administration. Relief teams are deployed in vulnerable areas, and temporary shelters are being arranged for those whose homes may be at risk due to flooding.
