Haryana to Build Six New IMTs Soon
Government plans massive township in Jind near expressways; two IMTs in CM’s home district….
Haryana In a major push toward industrial development, the Haryana government is set to establish six new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs), with two of them coming up in Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s home district, Karnal. This ambitious initiative includes acquiring approximately 35,000 acres of land, marking one of the biggest land procurement efforts in recent years aimed at transforming the state’s industrial infrastructure.
Among the upcoming developments, Jind will see the most significant transformation. The government is planning to build the largest township of the state here, strategically located between the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) and Delhi-Amritsar-Katra (DAK) expressways. With excellent connectivity and potential to become a logistics and manufacturing hub, this township in Jind is expected to attract massive investment, create employment, and improve regional economic balance.
The decision to set up new IMTs has been taken with a forward-looking approach to decongest existing industrial areas like Gurugram and Faridabad, and bring industrialization to less developed parts of the state. The model townships are envisioned as integrated industrial ecosystems with dedicated spaces for factories, residential areas, commercial zones, and green spaces.
Karnal, the Chief Minister’s native district, will receive two IMTs as part of the plan, a move seen both as strategic and politically significant. This will not only enhance local infrastructure but also generate economic opportunities and employment in the region, giving a major boost to the CM’s developmental image in his home turf.
Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has been entrusted with the responsibility of executing the plan, including land acquisition, infrastructure development, and investor facilitation. The government aims to attract large-scale investments from global and domestic companies through investor-friendly policies and world-class infrastructure.
Sources indicate that land identification is already underway and the government is approaching landowners with compensation and rehabilitation packages to ensure smooth acquisition. Local farmers and communities are being engaged early in the process to avoid disputes and ensure participation in the benefits of industrial growth.
This development initiative also aligns with the central government’s vision of enhancing infrastructure, promoting ‘Make in India’, and expanding the country’s manufacturing base. The IMTs will provide a modern setup for industries ranging from auto, textiles, electronics, food processing, to green energy.
With this industrial expansion, Haryana is likely to reinforce its position as one of India’s leading investment destinations. The government is also focusing on sustainable development by ensuring that environmental norms, water management, and green spaces are integral parts of these new townships.
As the groundwork begins, local residents remain hopeful that this initiative will bring significant socio-economic upliftment. Many believe that the new IMTs and especially the Jind township will not only reshape the landscape of Haryana’s economy but also mark a new era of balanced development across the state.
