Haryana CM Saini Urges Youth to Study Constitution and Understand Rights and Duties

At Constitution Day Event, CM Highlights the Importance of Constitutional Values for Building a Strong Nation

Kurukshetra – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini marked Constitution Day on Tuesday with a strong message to the youth of the state, urging them to thoroughly study the Indian Constitution to better understand their rights and duties. Speaking at the State-Level Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations held at Kurukshetra University, the CM emphasized the importance of constitutional values in shaping modern India and building a strong democracy.

Encouraging Political Participation and Civic Engagement

The Chief Minister appealed to young people to actively engage in political debates to deepen their understanding of the Constitution. He noted that youth in India have already made significant strides in various fields such as sports, information technology, digital payments, and startups, and now it was time for them to use their energy to understand the core principles that guide the nation’s governance.

CM Saini also underscored the role of the state government in advancing the principles of democracy through progressive social and economic policies, reflecting the values enshrined in the Constitution. He reiterated Haryana’s commitment to realizing the vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, which advocates for the upliftment of the last person in society.

Homage to Constitutional Architects

The Chief Minister paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other visionaries who played a pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution. Highlighting the significance of the words ‘We the People’ in the Preamble, Saini explained that these words represent the unity and integrity of the nation. They reflect India’s collective voice and its commitment to democratic ideals.

The Significance of Rights and Duties

While acknowledging that the Constitution grants us fundamental rights, CM Saini stressed the importance of balancing these rights with duties. He encouraged the people to reflect on their responsibilities as citizens and adhere to the values laid out in the Constitution. He noted that the Amrit Mahotsav of the Constitution offers an opportunity for everyone to adopt its values in their daily lives and demonstrate true citizenship.

CM’s Support for ‘One Nation, One Constitution’

In his address, the Chief Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A, calling it a historic step that fulfilled the dream of an ‘Akhand Bharat’ — a united India. He argued that the abrogation symbolizes the realization of ‘One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag, and One Leader’.

Exhibition and Celebrations

The CM also inaugurated an exhibition organized by the Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture Department, aimed at educating the public on the Constitution and its principles. The event was part of the broader Constitution Day celebrations, which sought to engage the community in reflecting on India’s democratic journey and the role of the Constitution in ensuring the nation’s progress.
