Harbhajan Singh Slams Khalistani Protest in Canada
Calls Attack Before PM Modi’s G7 Visit Shameful; Reacts to Influencer’s Murder Incident….
Jalandhar : Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has strongly condemned the actions of Khalistani elements in Canada, just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expected arrival for the G7 Summit. In a sharply worded social media post, Harbhajan expressed outrage over the rising activities of separatist groups and their attempts to create unrest abroad.
Calling it a “shameful and calculated act,” Harbhajan noted that such disruptions, especially when they coincide with a major diplomatic visit, reflect poorly on the image of the Indian diaspora and international harmony. His reaction came in the wake of reported incidents involving Khalistani sympathizers causing disturbances near Indian diplomatic establishments and during pro-India events in Canada.
The controversy gained further momentum following the recent murder of an Indian-origin social media influencer in Canada. Although investigations are still underway, there are speculations in media circles that the incident might be connected to extremist networks. Harbhajan Singh, in his post, linked this murder to the broader issue of unchecked Khalistani extremism spreading across Canadian soil.
Singh, who enjoys immense respect both on and off the field, urged the Canadian government to take strict action against such elements and ensure the safety of law-abiding Indian citizens and residents. He also emphasized the importance of global unity against terrorism in all forms, including ideologically driven violence.
This isn’t the first time the cricket veteran has spoken out on national issues. In the past, he has voiced his opinions on social media, advocating for the interests of the country and urging fellow celebrities and athletes to raise their voices against injustice or anti-national propaganda.
The timing of this outburst is crucial, as Prime Minister Modi prepares to join the G7 Summit where issues of global cooperation, security, and diplomacy are expected to be central themes. Harbhajan’s comments resonate with a growing concern among Indians about the safety and reputation of their community abroad, especially in countries with visible extremist activity.
Authorities in both India and Canada are closely monitoring the situation. Diplomatic pressure is expected to increase on Canada to crack down on groups promoting violence and separatism.
