Hamirpur farmers got 3.61 crore compensation during last year Rabi season

Hamirpur (HP), Nov 18 (UNI) The much ambitious crop insurance scheme of the central government has helped the farmers of the Hamirpur district a lot and they have received compensation of 3.61 crore rupees under the Crop insurance scheme during the last Rabi cropping season when crops were badly damaged due to natural calamities.
Dr. PC Saini, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department told UNI last evening that during the Rabi season 2020-21, 10,961 farmers of the district had got the wheat crop insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. About 3,867 hectares of land of these farmers were insured.
The Deputy Director said that Rs 3 crore 61 lakh has been directly deposited in the bank accounts of farmers as the sum insured of this insurance done through Agriculture Insurance Company.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, launched by the central government the insurance cover was given to the farmers to compensate for the loss of crops due to flood, drought, hailstorm, waterlogging, and other natural calamities.
