Gotki train accident: death toll reaches 65
Collision occurred on Monday between Sir Syed Express and Millat Express trains
Islamabad, Jun 8 (UNI) The death toll in the Ghotki train accident rose to 65 on Tuesday after rescuers pulled more bodies from a bogie found crushed underneath an engine, official sources said.
Dawn quoted Ghotki SSP Umer Tufail saying that around 10 to 12 bodies were retrieved today, they were identified as a group of persons who were travelling with a wedding party.
Members of the Edhi Centre in Sukkur have expressed apprehension that the death toll could rise further as
several of the injured are under treatment at different hospitals, many of them being in critical condition.
The accident had taken place in the early hours of Monday between the Raiti and Daharki railway stations, eight bogies of the Millat Express derailed just before the Sir Syed Express rammed into them.
